Liverpool‘s opponents in the 2022-23 Champions League group stage will be revealed on Thursday, August 25.
The new UEFA Champions League campaign begins this September and the draw is all set to take place in Istanbul. The host city for this season’s final, and it begins at 5 pm BST. The draw features 26 automatic qualifiers and six play-off round winners confirmed on 23 and 24 August.
Fixtures will be confirmed after the draw for a group stage which will be contracted over an eight-week period this autumn because of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Starting on September 6-7 and ending with matchday six on November 1-2.
The draw for the round of 16 is on November 7. With those ties played in February and March.
Liverpool in Champions League
Liverpool finished as runners-up in last season’s UCL against Real Madrid. In spite of a brilliant performance, the Reds weren’t able to score as they lost the game 1 – 0. Real Madrid Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois became the first goalkeeper in the history of the Champions League finals to make nine saves in a final.
The Reds also created a unique record last season by becoming the first English club to win all their six group stage matches in a season. The Merseyside giants were dominant throughout the season but were unlucky that they missed crossing the final hurdle to European glory.
Liverpool is in pot 2 after finishing second in both the Premier League and the Champions League. They will be matched up against one of the remaining clubs from Pots 1, 3, and 4. Moreover, Sides from the same country are not eligible to meet in the pool phase.

When Liverpool lost the Champions League finals against Real Madrid in 2018 they went on to win the Champions League Final in 2019. Let’s hope that History repeats.
