‘Challenge for the title’ – What Man Utd legend thinks of Liverpool?
Former Man Utd midfielder Paul Scholes has voiced his belief that Liverpool could be Manchester City’s strongest contender in the Premier League title charge this season.
Liverpool have made a statement with their strong start which includes three wins in their opening three matches in the Premier League, Scholes believes that Liverpool will be City’s primary competition, surpassing Arteta’s Arsenal.
Scholes admitted that he initially thought this Premier League season’s title was between Arteta and Pep but after witnessing Liverpool’s performances in the opening 3 matches and without conceding a single goal, he now believes Slot’s Liverpool could emerge as the more formidable threat.
Man Utd Legend on Liverpool in the title charge
Paul Scholes emphasized that Liverpool have the ability to beat City in the title race.
He said,
“They could really challenge for that title this year,
Before a ball had been kicked I thought it was going to be Arsenal’s year to give City a real go and possibly go on to win it. But after watching the first three games, I think Liverpool could go past Arsenal.“
These words from a rival’s legend is a music to Liverpool fans’ ears and they are hoping that the Reds will keep this form until the end of the season pushing City to their limit.
He further said,
“They were up there for a long part of the season last year, they only fell away in the last few games. If they keep that squad together and the majority of that fit, I think that is a team that can challenge City without a shadow of a doubt.”
