Young Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay will soon join Kilmarnock FC after decent half-a-season loan spell at Wigan Athletic.

With the winter transfer window open, all the English clubs now have the opportunity to bolster their ranks before jumping into the second half of the season.

Of course the PL giants like Liverpool will look to fill up the gaps in the squad for the title race, smaller clubs from the lower divisions will also find ways to make the most of this window.

And this latest update concerns one of the Anfield youngsters making a move to a lower division club.

Calvin Ramsay to join Kilmarnock FC

As confirmed by journalist Scott Burns, LFC young right-back Calvin Ramsay, who recently returned from loan at Wigan Athletic, will soon sign for Scottish side Killmarnock FC.

Writing for Record Sport, the journalist revealed,

“Kilmarnock are set to sign Calvin Ramsay on-loan. Record Sport understands the Rugby Park outfit has struck a deal with Liverpool for the rest of the season. The Scotland international is expected to complete his move later this week.”

The report also claimed that although several English and Scottish clubs had interest, Derek McInnes convinced Ramsay to join Killie.

The Scott moved to the Merseyside in 2022 from Aberdeen FC but could never break into the team. He only has two senior team appearances for the Reds.

With the inception of Conor Bradley as the deputy of Trent Alexander-Arnold in the current LFC setup, the 21-year-old’s chances of breaking into the first-team have become even thinner.

Since joining the Anfield giants, he has spent loan spells at Preston North End FC, Bolton Wanderers and finally moving to Wigan Athletic. But most of his loan spells have been marred due to injuries.

If Liverpool get a decent fee for selling Calvin Ramsay, then they should go ahead with it for their monetary benefit but more importantly so that the player’s growth does not get hampered.
