Ben Davies will be preparing for his first Anfield start, three seasons after joining the Reds. And the Liverpool manager has revealed he has “no idea” how Ben Davies is performing.

Ben Davies to make his first Anfield start?

When the two teams square off in the Champions League, Davies won’t be wearing a Liverpool jersey. Instead, he’ll be sporting the blue of Rangers. Davies, an emergency acquisition for the team facing a defensive crisis, moved to Liverpool from Preston during the January transfer window of the 2020–21 season.

After winning the Premier League in 2020, Liverpool suffered long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip. Even Fabinho, who replaced them in the midfield, had to visit the hospital.
The Reds were obliged to make changes after their season was all but over and acquired Davies for £500,000.

What happened to Ben Davies at Liverpool?

The 25-year-old was a Championship player. Although he had a respectable reputation, the defending Premier League winners were not willing to sign him to a long-term deal.

Tragically for Davies, Reds supporters never had the opportunity to watch him play. Thanks to the defensive tandem of Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams, who enabled Jurgen Klopp’s team to rescue Champions League football from a difficult campaign, he never played in a competitive game for Liverpool.

The Englishman’s run in Scotland was sadly more on the bench as a result of an injury. He knows he has the chance to make history in front of one of the most fervent crowds in all of European football, and he anticipates returning to play soon.

Davies’ transfer to Liverpool was a triumph in many respects, despite the fact that he was never given the chance to impress the Kop. The Reds made a respectable profit, Rangers now have a seasoned center-back, and Davies is playing for one of the top British teams.
