Liverpool boss Arne Slot was asked about the contract situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold, after the defender spoke to the press on the same issue.
One of Liverpool’s most influential players is out of contract next year. But the club and head coach seem to remain patient to find a solution.
Arne Slot responds to Alexander-Arnold comments
Trent Alexander-Arnold said on Sunday:
“Really refreshing to have a manager who will help and guide and teach me how to be better as a player.”
To which Arne Slot responded in today’s Press Conference:
“It’s nice to hear it and to read it because I think we all remember the day that Jurgen (Klopp) left and what that man meant to him. So you can assume how good of a relationship the two of them had, so to hear him say this about his new manager is always nice. It’s not always easy to come in and replace a manager like him.”
Arne Slot did not give any clarity nor did he give an update on the Alexander-Arnold contract situation.
“I have always said I want to captain the club. That is a goal of mine, whether that happens is out of my hands. I want to be a Liverpool player this season (as a minimum) is what I will say. The most important thing is always trophies. I want to win trophies.” Said Trent earlier this week on his contract situation.
Trent’s comments have certainly sparked anxiety among the fans. However, it does seem like Arne Slot and Alexander-Arnold have gotten into a good start which might be useful to convince him to sign a new contract.
