Arne Slot desperate to land Dutch superstar at Liverpool – Shock transfer move imminent?
After a flurry of transfer rumours during the summer, Arne Slot is extremely keen to bring PSG star Xavi Simons to Liverpool.
Simons turned down a lot of interest to stay on loan at RB Leipzig where he has been playing well. Journalist Yvonne Gabriel from Bild offered her thoughts on Liverpool’s endeavors saying,
“Liverpool were also extremely keen on him this summer, there is a good connection to coach Arne Slot“
Slot Keen on Dutch star transfer deal to Liverpool
The journalist shared his thoughts on the FC Bayern insider podcast saying,
“it is already clear that the chances of Xavi staying at Leipzig beyond this season are very, very slim
Xavi vetoed the offer [from Manchester United] and was determined to go to Leipzig where he saw better development opportunities
Of course, Man City, where Kevin de Bruyne’s contract expires in 2025, must also be on his radar.”
Given that PSG intends to sell the Dutch sensation in 2025 a significant bidding war may be imminent given that Manchester City and other Premier League heavyweights are keeping a close eye on his circumstances.
With his penchant for creating opportunities and scoring goals, Simons might be the ideal addition to strengthen Liverpool’s midfield and provide a fresh creative spark under Slot’s direction.
Dominik Szoboszlai who had a strong start to the season but still has room to improve has been challenged by Slot in the interim.
Slot stressed that the young Hungarian needs to contribute more goals and assists saying For an attacking midfielder at Liverpool his numbers need to go up.
This follows Szoboszlai’s outstanding performance against AC Milan in the Champions League, where he demonstrated his potential with an amazing display.
Liverpool might require a dynamic addition like Simons to bolster their goals and keep their competitive edge in the Premier League and beyond especially, with Mo Salah’s future at Anfield in doubt.
