Liverpool manager Arne Slot is growing confidence in Luis Diaz and fans around Anfield believe that the Dutch boss might have already found Sadio Mane’s successor.
With five goals in five Premier League games this season Luis Diaz has already shown promise and may eventually replace Sadio Mane as Liverpool’s long-term player.
He performed in a way that brought back memories of Mane’s incredible form at Anfield especially in 2019 when his cutting runs from the left flank terrorized opposing defenses.

Diaz and the Senegalese forward have been compared because of their straightforward approach quick speed and capacity to score from challenging positions.
Although Diaz hasn’t yet surpassed Mane’s impressive stats his performances this season suggest that he might be close to breaking through.
Although impressive his 29 goals since joining Liverpool are less than what Mane scored at the height of his career.
In addition to increasing his goal output, Diaz must also cultivate a more ruthless and clinical streak if he is to fully replace Mane.
Slot will be hoping for a similar improvement from Diaz who exploded with 22 goals in the Premier League in Mane’s third season at Liverpool. The Liverpool boss said,
“I think almost every manager took Liverpool as an example of how to work without the ball. The energy they put in, in all these years with Jurgen, I think that’s what you still see and I am really happy with us.
So, for me, I don’t see any change. If you see any differently then that’s possible because you saw more games than me, but the way I looked at all the Liverpool players and the way they’ve played in recent years, they were always very aggressive and that’s what [Luis] still is.”
Liverpool’s high-intensity style is well suited to the Colombian’s aggressive pressing and unwavering energy but to succeed he will need to concentrate on finishing stronger and avoiding injuries which could make this his most important season to date.
