Arne Slot has to serve touchline ban after yellow card against Fulham.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot will miss his side’s next Premier League match after being shown a yellow card during the Reds’ 3-2 win over Fulham at Anfield.
The Dutchman’s animated reaction to a booking for Curtis Jones in the 57th minute marked his third yellow card of the season. This has triggerred an automatic one-match touchline suspension.
The incident unfolded when Curtis Jones executed a late sliding tackle on former Everton player Alex Iwobi. Referee Tony Harrington deemed the challenge worthy of a booking, much to Slot’s frustration.

The Liverpool head coach jumped up and down in the technical area. He was shouting and throwing his hands in the air before Harrington approached and issued him a caution.
This marked Slot’s third booking of the campaign, having been yellow-carded in previous clashes against Chelsea and Arsenal. After the Arsenal match, Slot commented on the controversial decision, saying,
“They [Arsenal] always fell down when they had ball possession. I said to [Ibrahima Konate] ‘This is a f*****g joke,’ but the fourth official thought I was talking to him! I got a yellow for that!”
BAN!! Arne Slot Suspended
Slot’s first booking came against Chelsea when Curtis Jones was denied a penalty, with VAR overturning the original decision. Reflecting on the incident, Slot said,
“I thought the penalty was clear, but the officials saw differently.”
Slot will now serve his suspension during Liverpool’s crucial Premier League encounter against Tottenham on December 22, a match with significant implications for the title race.
His assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, is expected to take charge from the sidelines. He will be supported by John Heitinga, who joined Liverpool’s coaching staff as part of Slot’s summer overhaul.
The touchline ban comes as another blow to Liverpool, who will also be without Andy Robertson for their League Cup quarter-final against Southampton on Wednesday. The Scottish defender received a red card during the Fulham match for bringing down Harry Wilson and denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Despite the setbacks, Slot will remain in contact with the team, communicating via phone with the dugout. As Liverpool prepare for the upcoming challenges, the head coach will look to channel his fiery passion into planning for a strong return to the touchline.
