At the end of November last year, Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot beat Spanish giant Real Madrid at home by 2-0 in the Champions League.

The Reds are currently at the top of the Champions League with six wins out of six matches in the campaign.

Arne Slot’s men will now face Lille in the upcoming Champions League match this week at home.

While Slot is looking to continue his 100% form in the Champions League, the Dutch manager expressed his feelings about the win over Real Madrid when they met at the end of last year.

Liverpool boss Slot explains how defeating Real Madrid feels like

Arne Slot joined Liverpool at the start of this season after former manager Jurgen Klopp left the club. The former Feyenoord boss faced Spanish giant and defending champion Real Madrid in the Champions League.

It was a big test for both Slot and Liverpool. And it can be said Arne Slot’s men passed the test quite brilliantly after Liverpool beat Real Madrid by 2-0 at Anfield. While the first half was a little quiet from both ends, Liverpool scored two second-half goals to snatch the victory from Real Madrid.

Liverpool are yet to drop a single point in this Champions League campaign and are looking to win seven out of seven in their next fixtures.

However, before meeting Lille this week in the Champions League, Liverpool manager Arne Slot explained his feelings about the win over Real Madrid. According to the X post by Dave Ockop, the Dutch manager said,

“I could see ‘Oh I’m at Liverpool here’, because if it was Feyenoord there would be a big party in the dressing room. Five minutes later everyone here is thinking of recovery and the next game.”

Before joining Liverpool, Arne Slot was the manager of the Dutch side of Feyenoord. He was there as the manager of the club from July 2021 to May 2024. Slot has a brilliant manager career there with Feyenrood which paved the way for him to Premier League side Liverpool.

During his time Feyenoord never met Real Madrid in the Champions League. However, Slot expressed how the dressing room scenario would be if Feyenoord beat such a big team in the Champions League.

Compared to that, beating Real Madrid as a Liverpool manager is totally different. However, it was a big win for the Reds.

Liverpool were winless against the Spanish giant Real Madrid in the last eight outings. However, this time Arne Slot changed the dynamics.

That ultimately helped, as Liverpool was able to secure a famous win over Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid. So, there is no doubt this is a big win for all the Liverpool fans.

Liverpool are in a great form under Arne Slot

Liverpool under Arne Slot are enjoying a great time. The Reds are at the top of the Champions League and also in the Premier League.

More importantly, they are six points clear in the Premier League from the second place Arsenal and twelve points clear from the defending champion Manchester City with one match on hand. Certainly, the Reds are very favorite to win the Premier League this season.

For now, Liverpool will focus on the Champions League as they will welcome Lille at home this week. After that, the Reds will continue their Premier League journey once again when they face Ipswich Town.
