Liverpool are set to beat a 94-year-old goal-scoring record in the Merseyside derby against Everton on 1st December. The Reds are making a short trip across the Stanley Park to face Everton at Goodison Park on the Matchday 14 of the Premier league. The Toffees’ last premier league win came against Norwich on 25th September 2021.

Everton are currently in 14th place in the table. They lost 4 and drew 1 in their last five Premier League games. Moreover, Rafael Benitez’s men didn’t score a single goal in their last three matches. Meanwhile, the Reds have scored ten goals in their previous three fixtures. While It has been three draws and a win each in the last five Merseyside derby matches.

Everton faces the Reds with back-to-back defeat against Manchester City and Brentford. While Liverpool travels to Goodison Park with back-to-back 4 goals victory against Arsenal and Southampton. Thus, the sides are up against each other with contrasting fortunes.

Liverpool could create a new record in the Merseyside derby

A ruthless performance from the Red saw them score 4 past the Saints in their last game. That was the 17th consecutive time that Liverpool had scored more than two goals in a game. The Reds match the record that was set by Sunderland in 1927.

Thus, Jurgen Klopp’s men will now be aiming to break the 94-year-old English goal-scoring record in Wednesday’s clash against Everton. Meanwhile, Liverpool are in third with just two points behind the leaders Chelsea on the Premier league table.

Liverpool’s recent strong performance in the Premier League and in the Champions League boosts the hopes that the Reds are going to break the Black cats’ record of scoring more than two goals in 17 consecutive games in top-flight football.

The last four meetings in Goodison Park have finished level. But this season Liverpool are on fire especially considering their goal-scoring form and that too in the away games they look all set to conquer the record. The Reds have scored 39 goals in the Premier league out of which 21 goals are scored in away games which is just remarkable.

Moreover, the two more will also finish 700 goals under Jurgen Klopp. With the Reds front three Salah, Mane, and Jota are not just in goal-scoring form but are also in the top 4 goal scorers in the Premier League this season.
