Premier League legend slams Liverpool star after shock defeat to Nottingham Forest
Famous pundit and Premier League legend, Alan Shearer, slams Liverpool star Nunez for not being able to contribute anything to his club where they faced defeat against Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool’s stunning victory over Manchester United in the Premier League was followed by a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield which brought new manager Arne Slot to his knees.
Liverpool were unable to penetrate Forest’s compact defense even though they had the majority of the possession.
The Reds vulnerability was made clear by Callum Hudson-Odoi’s game-winning goal as their attack lacked originality and fluidity.

Even the substitutions had minimal effect on the result as Slot’s team were unable to take advantage of opportunities.
Forest’s well-organized defense stifled Liverpool making it difficult for the home team to create clear opportunities.
Darwin Nunez’s lackluster performance, he came off the bench but failed to make an impact and was one of the main talking points from the game.
Alan Shearer, the former England international said,
“Milenkovic was too strong for Nunez when he came on and he didn’t add anything to the game.
He wins the ball and then watch the way they break. Elanga and Hudson-Odoi, who came on as subs, it’s a brilliant goal. One end to the other.”
The big-money acquisition from 2022 hasnt yet established himself as a regular starter, so Nunez’s inconsistent play is still a worry for Liverpool.
Nunez has more pressure to perform now that Mohamed Salah’s future is unclear because Liverpool will need dependable goal-scoring alternatives in the future.
