The Scousers are about to resume their journey after the World Cup break and Liverpool might be making a move for Leicester City’s James Maddison in the upcoming transfer window.

A possible Liverpool Maddison connection?

James Maddison, a midfielder for Leicester City, has apparently been highlighted by Liverpool as a potential transfer target for 2023.

Maddison has had a difficult few weeks, missing England’s first two World Cup games due to injury and not participating in a single minute of the Three Lions’ march to the quarterfinals.

From an individual standpoint, the Premier League has been a different story for the 26-year-old, who has contributed seven goals and four assists from 13 games.

While Maddison has now assumed the role of Leicester’s star player, he still has less than 19 months left on his King Power Stadium deal.

There now seems to be little likelihood that Maddison will choose to extend his contract due to the interest from other teams at a time when Leicester are now in a position to qualify for European football in 2023–2024.

Other clubs linked with Maddison?

Newcastle United was frequently mentioned as a potential buyer of the creative midfielder throughout the summer, with reports indicating a price tag of about £50 million, before he went on to produce outstanding results in the months that followed.

Fichajes claims that Liverpool are still keeping an eye on the issue in anticipation of maybe making a formal offer in one of the upcoming two transfer windows.

The news coincides with claims that Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund and Enzo Fernandez of Benfica are both on Jurgen Klopp’s list of center midfield objectives. As things stand, that portion of the field is probably going to get priority since Liverpool needs a new look after their shaky start in the new season. But if Maddison decides against extending his stay in the East Midlands, a fight will unavoidably break out for his services in the summer.

As far as the priority list goes, Liverpool will be looking to get Bellingham first then the Reds might make a move for the World Cup Hotstar Enzo and if the Merseyside club missed out on both a possibility for going after Maddison will be in place.
