According to former Premier League star Stan Collymore, the Merseyside giants have started to negotiate with the Chelsea star Mason Mount.

The Englishman has been influential for Chelsea since his debut four years back in a blue shirt. But his contract ends at the end of the season and negotiations over a new deal have been at a standstill.

According to the reports, the England international is looking for a way out of Stamford Bridge and his possible destination could be Anfield.

The reports further add that the Reds are favorites to sign the 24-year-old for a sum of £66M. Collymore also suggested that Liverpool are currently negotiating with the Chelsea midfielder for a potential transfer deal.

Stan Collymore on Mason Mount

Stan told Caught Offside

“I’ve been told by two very reliable people, one of which being a person who knows Mason Mount personally, that his rumored move to Liverpool this summer is very much on.”

He also added

“It’s already being discussed within both clubs. There is a lot still to decide through, particularly at Chelsea. There will be a lot of outgoings and probably some more incomings so a lot will depend on what the club decides to do but the fact there are already talking about the possibility of letting Mount go says a lot.”

Mount has had a difficult 2022/23 season with Chelsea. The Chelsea midfielder has played 32 matches in all competitions where he has scored 3 goals and registered six assists for the Blues.

Liverpool needs to revamp their midfield and Mason Mount could be a perfect addition to the squad. He provides agility and intensity in the midfield which the Reds boss is currently lacking in the middle of the park.

Although Graham Potter, the Chelsea boss is reluctant to sell their key star midfielder. However, the Reds are also determined to hijack the Englishman, now it is up to the player where he sees himself in the near future.
