When Liverpool plays Antonio Conte’s team on Sunday, Son Heung-min won’t be available for Tottenham, adding to their increasing list of injury worries.

Injury worries haunt Tottenham as Son misses the game against Liverpool

The South Korean had to leave the first half of Tuesday’s Champions League triumph for Tottenham against Marseille due to what seemed to be a serious head injury.

Wednesday night, it was revealed that Son sustained a fracture near his left eye. He will soon have surgery before undergoing recovery.

A timeline for his comeback was not given. The forward will undoubtedly be too busy to go to north London for Liverpool’s match.

Tottenham:

“We can confirm that Heung-Min Son will undergo surgery to stabilize a fracture around his left eye”

The South Korean international was hurt on Tuesday against Olympique Marseille during the first half of their UEFA Champions League triumph.

Injury concerns for Spurs

After the procedure, Son will begin his recovery with the medical team. They’ll keep fans updated as more information becomes available.

Son isn’t the only Tottenham player undergoing treatment right now. Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski, two more attackers, are also not eligible for selection.

Conte said last month that Sweden winger Kulusevski had experienced a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury. Meanwhile, Richarlison, who sustained a calf injury against Everton a few weeks ago, is presently racing against time to be ready to represent Brazil at the World Cup.

Another question mark is defender Cristian Romero, who missed Tuesday’s victory against Marseille due to a thigh injury.

All four are set to be out for what is a crucial game for Liverpool if they are to stay in touch with the top four in the Premier League. Conte will provide an update on the injured foursome at his pre-match news conference on Friday.

Although it is thought that Jordan Henderson’s absence was just a precaution, the Reds have their own injury concerns. Henderson missed the triumph against Napoli. But it looks like the Reds skipper will be available for selection against Spurs.
